Apple recently released its latest iOS 11 operating system in India at 10:30PM, September 19 and we wanted to give you a heads up about what it has in store.
How to Download: Compatible Apple devices — iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch- will receive a notification to download the upgrade. To download the latest iOS 11, you can visit the ‘About’ section under ‘Settings’ menu and tap on ‘Software Update’. Alternatively, you can get the update by using iTunes too.

Some of the feature updates include: Do Not Disturb While Driving feature, smarter Siri, better camera and photos. There is also a new control centre and now users will also get a screen record function.

iOS 11 Makes sure no one disturbs you while driving. Much needed here in India, if we actually get round to using it. This is my NO. 1 pick of much needed improvements. If I had a dollar for every-time I saw a person driving with a phone to his or her ear – well let’s just say I might be owning half the IPL teams. This dangerous habit needs to stop as it is a big cause of accidents.

This iOS 11 feature is a small step in the right direction and kind of overdue for a brand like Apple – because many other mid-market brand have already incorporated such features. So, you get no calls and notifications when you’re driving which is auto-detected by motion. Incoming calls are allowed to come through, but only when the iPhone is connected to a hands-free accessory like a headset or the car’s built-in audio system.

And yes, what happens if you’re not the driver but a passenger in a moving vehicle. Well, there is a pop up where you can Disable this feature by choosing – “I’m not driving.”

iOS 11 Maps – now working indoors too Yes, iOS Maps are now more detailed, with speed limits indicated where-ever applicable and available, and you can now see maps inside major Airports and Shopping Centres. So is that just being helpful or is Apple looking for an additional minor revenue stream here?

Airplay 2 – Control your Home through the iOS 11 update Maybe not that much in use in the Indian market, but through this feature you can control your Apple HomePod and stream music into it. With lots of fine tuning and detail.

Redesigned Control Centre and Lock Screen in the iOS 11 Update See the recent and missed notifications in one place. Your control centre is more flexible now and you can even customise the setup for the various settings.

Which iPhone and iPads will get the Apple iOS 11 update?

iOS 11 will be compatible with these iPhones: iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus. But this is understandable since they were just rolled out by the company. When it comes to older models, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone SE, iPhone 5s will get the iOS 11. However, if you still own the iPhone 4S, 5, or 5C you will not get the iOS 11 update anymore from Apple.
